It can seem like an impossible task. I grew up in the coastal south and became all too familiar with what is left in the wake of a people carving an existence in a fragile ecosystem. These plastics are a byproduct of our increasing convenience-based lives.There is a dark comedy in seeing the ways nature attempts to make use of our carelessness. I made this painting referencing some of the different juxtapositions I've seen on our coastlines. Resourceful shorebirds making homes from the endless debris that washes ashore.
