It is now estimated that by 2050 the amount of plastic in the ocean will outweigh the biomass of fish. The artwork is an imagining of an empty ocean, a plastic sea, depleted by human impact and overconsumption. All that remains are degrading pieces of colorful plastic that envelop the central figure as she submerges into a frightening possible reality.
