Megaptera Novaeangliae by Dan Mumford5-color screen print24 x 18 InchesRegular (Blue): Numbered limited edition of 50Variant (Purple): Numbered limited edition of 25  Dan Mumford's "Megaptera Novaeangliae" highlights Humpback Whales, which are predominantly found near coastlines. They feed on krill, plankton, and small fish, and undertake large-scale, annual migrations from summer feeding grounds near the poles to warmer winter breeding waters closer to the Equator - the farthest migration of any mammal. While their populations have been rebounding thanks to conservation measures, they remain at threat from entanglement in fishing gear (bycatch), ship strikes, habitat impacts, and pollution. Artist Statement "I wanted to try and capture the majesty of one of the kings of the sea, a gentle giant swimming amongst his domain. I've always been fascinated with Humpback Whales, so it was a pleasure to be able to create something based around them." - Dan Mumford
