2023 Paper Planes Sierra Foothills Grenache

The 2023 Paper Planes Grenache comes from the organic, no till Zula Mae Vineyard in the Sierra Foothills AVA. This is our first foray into the high-elevation vineyards of this region. This beautiful property sits at over 1,700’ of elevation, on granite-rich soils. The sit is organically farmed by our friend Tom Sherwood. Prior to its current vines, the site was grazed by cattle, and operated as a mining camp way back when. While true to the style of our Grenache - bright red fruit, black tea - this new site adds a deliciously crunchy texture and bright red fruit character to the wine. We fermented two unique lots: one fully destemmed and one 100% whole cluster. This vintage, Kyle was psyched to come across a neutral Stockinger puncheon (IYKYK), which he used to age the majority of this wine.
