Agave potatorum 'Tradewinds' Variegated Agave
Agave potatorum is sometimes called the Butterfly or Artichoke Agave. Fleshy succulent rosette with stiff, blueish green leaves and lobed margins, tipped with a curly sharp hook. This is a very nice albomarginated cultivar with white stripes around each leaf. They can reach 2-3 feet in diameter when full grown. From Oaxaca, Mexico. This is a small to medium growing agave species. Rosettes get nice and tight in that artichoke shape as long as they have adequate, bright light. 4" pots (Offsets) I've seen other sellers say this plant is "highly toxic" but I have not experienced this. Just please don't eat it!!! Taxonomy from Kew: Heterotypic Synonyms for Agave Potatorum Agave amoena Lem. ex Jacobi in Hamburger Garten- Blumenzeitung 21: 120 (1865) Agave auricantha Baker in Gard.
