Harrisia aboriginum, Also known as the prickly apple cactus, this particular species is probably extinct in the wild. It was known only to a very small locality in the Longboat Key area, near Sarasota. It is federally endangered. We can only ship to buyers in Florida. There are no longer any known natural populations of Harrisia aboriginum in coastal Manatee County. This spiny, columnar cactus grows very large flowers in the spring which form an unusually large round fruit that turns yellowish orange. Inside looks like a dragon fruit, with white flesh and many black seeds. Seedlings in 4” pots, shipped bare root.
