ORIGIN: 1920s KilimRUG COLORS: Buttercream, ecru, ivory PILE HEIGHT: No pile MATERIAL: 100% wool with cotton canvas backing (for strength) Description This kurdish-made kilim was handwoven in Mazandaran region of northwestern Iran, in-between the Ellburz mountain range and the Caspian sea. This minimalist carpet does not feature the classic lateral stripe design, and is instead made of 100% undyed wool thread, loosely grouped by shades. These style of kilim were originally designed to be used as protective covers for more expensive pile carpets while in storage, though their solid construction and minimalist aesthetic makes them highly versatile and stylish pieces of their own merit. Unlike Turkish kilims, which are often a mix of wool, goat hair, hemp, and cotton, these Persian styles are 100% wool. Love this rug, but need a different size? Email hello[at]passerinehome[dot]com to discuss options to modify this rug's dimensions or to help you source another one like it. Though all of Passerine's Persian kilims come with a reinforced canvas backing, we recommend using rug pads to increase traction and cushion. Add a custom-sized rug pad to your order using order add-on the drop down above.
