The Soldier Green Paper

Tree ring print of Live Oak, "the Soldier," from Golden Isles, GA.   Artists: Jessie and Christina Fabian Live oaks from Saint Simons were used to make the USS Constitution AKA Old Ironside in 1812. It was the dense composition of our oaks that made the ship such a formidable foe. The Soldier is a cross-section of a live oak from Gascoigne Bluff genetically related to the same trees that were so integral in making our ships bigger, faster, and stronger.
