TUMBLER 06 - Humpback Huddle

Humpback Huddle is a handmade tumbler/vase perfect for an ocean lover. It's etched with two humpback whales against a background of ocean waves and bordered with a checker pattern. The remaining exterior and interior features a glossy glaze of deep cobalt blue. The imagery was created in my woodcut-style design, using traditional sgraffito (etching) techniques in a contemporary way. It was etched through a black underglaze, and then bisque-fired to approximately 1945 degrees/F. The etched section was covered with a clear glaze and the remainder glazed with a deep, glossy cobalt blue.
