The cabbage butterfly is found almost everywhere in the world, from Europe and North Africa to South America, and even in Australia, where they were accidentally introduced into the local ecosystem. While they are considered pests by commercial agriculture, their delicate translucence and white-and-brown patterns make them a beautiful subject for lepidopterological study. They begin life as eggs, develop into larvae, and eventually become encased pupae. After their transformation, they emerge as fully formed adult butterflies.
