It forms from a blend of calcium carbonate minerals, including black, white, and orange calcite. These unique crystals are created when sand and other "phantom" minerals fill spaces within the calcium carbonate, resulting in the striking "zebra" stripes seen both on and within the crystal. Although calcium carbonates are common minerals, zebra calcite is a rare variation, only found in Mexico in recent years. The stone gets its name from the banding patterns that resemble zebra stripes. It is sometimes confused with Zebra Stone from Western Australia, but the similarities end with the name. We’re thrilled to have these stunning specimens in our collection, and personally, they’re among my Top 3 favorite finds from this year's Tucson show. Each piece here is a standout example of zebra calcite
