Peanut Butter Swirl Handmade Ceramic Sandwich Plate
We partnered with Brooklyn artist & ceramicist Jessica Campbell of Messy Jessy Ceramics to create handmade sandwich plates, perfect for enjoying a PB&J! From Jessica: Working with clay is a lot like baking, and for this collaboration with Peanut Butter & Co, I’ve whipped up a set of plates that look good enough to eat. Inspired by a PB&J sandwich, I used a Japanese technique called Nerikomi to layer and swirl the colored clay to create the effect of one perfect bite. First, I gathered the raw components - white porcelain and pigments - and tested different combinations until I found the precise recipes for colors that evoked juicy jams like grape, strawberry and apricot, banana, and of course creamy peanut butter. Then I wedged the colors together to create the swirl pattern before rolling out the clay and crafting the plates. Finally, I popped the plates in the kiln to bake.
