These are humble plants—those that grow freely along the sides of roads, in meadows, or near waterways. Naturalized or native, they thrive. Photographer Barry Rosenthal, who is known for turning discarded and overlooked things into art, has collected and documented them in his series Photobotanicus. Through compositions marked by three-dimensionality and elements of graphic design, the collection pays homage to the history of botanical illustration and investigates the diversity of forms in the plant life that grows around us.
