Red and Gold Painted Jewel Beetle Wing Earrings

These beetles are a common delicacy in many parts of the world. The wings used in these earrings are essentially the leftover wrappers to a very sustainable and environmentally friendly snack. Beetles are scavenged postmortem, after they fall out of the trees that they live in. Selling the wing "wrappers" also provides another source of income to farmers.   This pair of red wings have been hand painted and then sealed to preserve their design   These earrings hang from surgical steel leverback bases so they can be worn by those with stretched or unstretched ears
