Chickweed Botanical Ring

Often times our most wonderful discoveries are merely the recognition of what is before us – and in this case under foot! Our botanical jewelry collection was inspired by our unearthing of the usefulness of invasive weeds and pays homage to its winged cultivator.   CHICKWEED (stellaria media) origin: Cosmopolitan Species edible notes: Stems, leaves, flowers, grassy taste nutrition: Contains vitamin A, beta carotene, and trace minerals in season: Early spring, late fall   This sprawling, nutrient-rich ground hugger is always a treat to find as the best time for nibbling is just about when our garden begins to emerge… I love using it fresh in a salad, and as a result of our city living and limited light, we have lots of greens and tend to tuck them into just about everything. Its little star-shaped white flower is responsible for many of its nicknames including ‘Star Weed.’
