Ornament - Houdini

Handmade Houdini Ornament. Harry Houdini is wearing a straight jacket while hanging upside down. Will he escape?!? It was made especially for us to accompany the exhibit, Conjuring the Spirit World: Art, Magic, and Mediums.  On view from September 14, 2024, to February 2, 2025 --- Approximately 6 inches tall, not including the hanging loop. --- St. Nicolas specializes in bespoke, handmade decorations. For over 25 years, St. Nicolas has worked with a small charity in Thailand and India that helps disadvantaged rural women find work in their community, sewing decorations at home. Their Indian-made decorations are crafted using the traditional method of Zardozi embroidery, a highly skilled technique handed down from generation to generation that traditionally uses gold wires and jewels to embellish robes.
