The Old Soul, 2024 DETAILS Artwork is 16" x 20" on a canvas in a natural wood floater frame This abstract painting is an ode to old souls. It is inspired by the beauty of oxidized rooftops in Europe, and the patina of aged buildings that foster deep learning. It is also inspired by the natural markings and textures found in nature, which gives it a grounded feel. This painting embraces the Wabi-Sabi aesthetic, a Japanese art form that highlights the beauty in things that are imperfect, aged, and simple. It values the look of wear and tear, celebrating the natural cycle of growth and decay.  Layers of pigments creates a look where every square inch of the painting is interesting to look at. I used natural pigments found in coffee grounds, crushed brick, charcoal and inks. I crushed sand and limestone powder to create textures, and even added in a dash of cinnamon and pepper! How fun!  A natural black wood floater frame is included. The piece is sprayed with multiple-coats of UV pro
