Soda Fired Bowls

Local to the East Bay, Matt Fishman creates his utilitarian pieces intentionally, for every day use and enjoyment. These small bowls are made from locally foraged clay and minimally processed to keep its character. The profiles on these are all slightly different and generally irregular, making for more organic forms. Some are left unglazed, some were coated in a slip made of dark clay and cobalt. In the soda firing, soda ash interacts with the surfaces of the pieces to flash various colors and sometimes turn glassy. This makes for lots of variation between the piece, with some being more "dry" than others; see photos for variety.  Can be used as small nibbles bowls for your charcuterie board, ring bowls, or sake cups.  Approximately 2oz capacity.
