Opuntia aurea, commonly known as Coombe's Winter Glow, is virtually thornless, “beaver-tail” paddles turn deep purple in the winter. With spring come garlands of bright fuschia colored flowers. To 4' wide, and 2' tall; hardy to subzeros. Opuntia aurea is a cactus that grows in Southern Utah and perhaps Northern Arizona. It is prostrate and forms irregularly sprawling plants to about three feet across. Occasionally a single pad may grow upright. The cactus can be spineless, have a few spines or have multiple spines. Golden prickly pear shipped dry bareroot and ready to ant in DRY soil. Water it a week after being left in dry soil then you can progressively give it more heat/light till over a week its able to handle full sun/heat. other wise it can get damage or die.
