Founded in 1887 as the Safety Electric Light and Power Company, it had early backing by George Westinghouse, the rival to Thomas Edison. Later renamed United Electric the company became the first supplier of electricity to ALL of Manhattan. This powerhouse (see what I did there) of a company fielded many teams throughout the Industrial Leagues. Their 1925 basketball team stomped their obvious rivals the Edison Fives, 10 games to 1.
