This casting grain is sold by troy ounces (ozt.) and is ideal for any casting method and for making ingots. --- Casting and Cleaning When casting, your temperature should generally be 100˚F (37.7˚C) above the liquidus point, or slightly hotter for intricate castings. We recommend using a small amount of high-quality flux, such as Bench Basics Borax, when melting with an open flame. For further cleaning, mechanical methods are recommended. --- Re-Using If you plan to reuse fine silver castings, first remove oxides from the surface using a pickling solution. Then, tumble the silver with a burnishing compound to remove any remaining debris. We recommend a minimum 1:1 ratio of new grain to used silver. --- Composition Our fine silver is electrolytically produced in our state-of-the-art facility, boasting a nominal purity of 99.99%+ fine.
