Clematis x viticella Diamantina (Regal® Series Hybrid Clematis)
Large flowers are 4-6" across and quite showy with many layers of unfolding bluish-purple petals that have a rosy tinge. Multiple flowers bloom on each stem, and they are held for up to 4 weeks. Heaviest flowering is in spring to early summer and blooms appear again in the fall. Grows 6-8'. Plant 18" apart. PP#20638 Train Clematis on arbors, walls, fences, poles or use them for screening a spot that's not so pretty, or to cover stumps. Clematis vines take from 2-3 years to become fully established. Our experience is that vines grown in full sun will produce heavier blooms for a shorter time period than those grown in partial shade where blooms won't be heavy but will extend over a longer time. Clematis will benefit from shade over their roots. Don't use heavy bark or leaf mulches in the summer as they can promote Clematis wilt. Keep the moisture level of your vines even-never very dry or very wet.
