Panicum virgatum (Switchgrass)

Native switch grass is a staple of the tall grass prairie and is a necessary element of the wildflower meadow or naturalistic planting. Upright green to bluish-green foliage grows to 3-5’ and turns bright yellow in fall. Beautiful when planted in mass with reddish-purple seed heads in late summer. Adaptable to a variety of soil conditions but is best suited to sandy loam. Plant 36" apart.
