This is an original 1722 black and white copper engraving of "Peter Graf von Fuentes," also known as Pedro Henriquez de Acevedo y Toledo, Count of (Conde de) Fuentes, or Don Pedro Henriquez Fuentes Graf von Toledo und Azevedo, an experienced and revered Spanish General, Governor and Captain-General of Milan, and Statesman who spent a considerable amount of time in the Court of King Philip II. The military baton he is holding in this portrait indicates his status as a high-ranking military officer. The interior border of the portrait features a unique decorative motif that is further surrounded by a wonderful decorative design featuring botanical borders and a crowned shield above an angel at the bottom of the print. This piece is accompanied by the original German biographical text printed on a separate sheet and featuring a decorative drop cap, vignette and head-and tail-pieces.
