"Exterior View of the United States Mint, Philadelphia" This is an original 1852 black and white in-text wood engraving of an illustration by Devereux of the second building of the US Mint in the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. The Philadelphia Mint was established by the Founding Fathers in the Coinage Act of 1792 that was created in order to help establish a national identity and suit the needs of national commerce. The Second Philadelphia Mint building was located at the intersection of Chestnut and Juniper Streets and as nicknamed the "Grecian Temple".
