"Death and Sleep bearing to Jupiter to the Body of Sarpedon" This is an original 1874 black and white double-page wood engraving of a painting by Henri Levy (1840-1904) entitled, "Death and Sleep bearing to Jupiter to the Body of Sarpedon", that depicts Sleep (Hypnos) and Death (Thanatos) bearing the corpse of Sarpedon, King of Lycia, son of Zeus and Laodamia, hero of Troy during the Trojan War, to Phoebus Apollo (Jupiter) so that he could clean to body and perform the funeral honors according to ancient Greek mythology.
