This is an original 1882 monochrome wood engraving of the village of Chrona Mogila in Bulgaria, near Chernihiv (Chernigov) which is in Ukraine. A kurgan is a mound of earth and rocks that has been raised over a grave. In the foreground, two men stand with a few horses that are pulling a wagon.
