1889 Ad Blooker Dutch Cocoa Thurber Chocolate Baking - ORIGINAL GROC2
This is an original 1889 black and white print ad for Blooker's Dutch Cocoa-- sold by Thurber, Whyland and Company of New York. The ad writes, "Physicians are now recommending largely the use of the purest and ripest cocoa, especially to the weak, to children and convalescents in preference to tea and coffee, as these stimulants weaken the nervous system and have an exciting effect on the brain. In offering our cocoa to the public we know we are giving them the choicest, purest and ripest cocoa in existence..." This is one of the most rare grocery-related original advertising items we have procured. It is from a rare trade journal printed in original letterpress manner (you can feel the emboss, deboss feel to the letter printed areas of each ad). Images were woodblock prints for most and are amazing. The journal this was removed from only went to grocery owners and industry buyers. A one-of-a-kind item in this condition and size. There will likely be some bleed through on all original
