This is an original 1891 black and white print ad for James Pyle's Pearline Soap. CONDITIONThis 120+ year old Item is rated Very Fine +++. Moderate aging throughout. Small crease - center right. No natural defects. No surface rub. No tears. No water damage. Product Type: Original Print Ad; Black / White Grade: Very Fine +++ Dimensions: Approximately 4.75 x 3.25 inches; 12 x 8 cm Authentication: Serial-Numbered Certificate of Authenticity w/ Full Provenance Protection: Packaged in a custom archival sleeve with an acid-free black board (great for display, gift-giving, and preservation) Pearline Soap. When men left to fight in the American Civil War, women were forced to take over the farming, in addition to their already staggering housekeeping maintenance, thus leaving them with far less time for soap making. Consequently, this created a demand for manufactured soap. When the men returned from war they became accustomed to the manufactured soap and even began to prefer it.
