This is an original 1891 black and white wood engraving of the Abu Simbel temples of Nubia, Egypt. The monuments were relocated in 1968 based on the fact that they were settled on the banks of Nasser Lake; in order to avoid submerging the site after the construction of the Aswan High Dam reservoir, relocation was necessary for the ancient carvings. The site was built during Pharaoh Ramesses II's reign in honor of Nefertari, his wife, and himself, after the Battle of Kadesh.CONDITIONThis 120+ year old Item is rated Very Fine +++.
