"The Royal Procession." This is an original 1893 limited edition (112 of 1000), first impression photogravure by Goupil of a painting by English artist, John Charlton. The painting depicts the royal procession on 21 June 1887 celebrating the occasion of Queen Victoria's Jubilee. The actual image measures 9.5 x 13.5 inches. Period Paper has obtained a wonderful set of limited edition art that was exhibited at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, also known as the World Columbian Exposition. This collection includes photogravures, typogravures, halftone prints, and hand-colored art. The World Columbian Exposition was held from May to October 1893 in Chicago in honor of the 400th anniversary of Columbus' discovery of the new world. In competition with many other cities, Chicago was finally designated the official site and the Exposition was built on 630 acres in and around Jackson Park.
