"Carnot at the Battle of Wattignies." This is an original 1893 limited edition (112 of 1000), halftone print of a painting by French artist, Georges Moreau de Tours. The painting depicts Lazare Carnot at the Battle of Wattignies fought Oct. 15-16, 1793 during the French Revolutionary Wars. The actual image measures 8 x 9.5 inches. Please note that there is printing on the reverse. Period Paper has obtained a wonderful set of limited edition art that was exhibited at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, also known as the World Columbian Exposition. This collection includes photogravures, typogravures, halftone prints, and hand-colored art. The World Columbian Exposition was held from May to October 1893 in Chicago in honor of the 400th anniversary of Columbus' discovery of the new world.
