Statue of the French Republic. This is an original 1894 halftone print showing the statue of the French Republic named "La France," which resides in the Manufactures and Liberal Arts Building. The statue contains a variety of carved scenes and incidents relating to the French Revolution. On the head of the statue rests a diadem, which is composed of three figures representing liberty, equality and fraternity. A cuirass of the French Calvary shield the body, while the right arm is raised in warning. The shield the statue holds contains the inscription in French that says "The Rights of Man." (Please note that, typical of halftone prints, there is printing on the reverse.)
