Illinois Building. This is an original 1894 halftone print showing an image of the Illinois Building. The featured structure stood at three stories tall and included North and South grand entrances, as well as a wing or pavilion running across the East and West entrances. The dome is about 235 feet above the ground, while the main walls are only 47 feet high. The structure is shown from the South entrance, which provides a view of the Lagoon and the Wooded Island. The Memorial Hall was used for a school room exhibit and contained many historical objects, which were usually kept in the state building in Springfield. (Please note that, typical of halftone prints, there is printing on the reverse.)
