This is an original 1903 black and white photogravure of the nilometer housed on the island of Rhoda, Egypt. The purpose of the notched column was to measure the waters of the Nile River during its annual flooding. This item is from a limited edition collection of important historical prints of Ancient Egypt produced in 1903. The edition size produced at that time was out of 1,000 and this collection of prints was numbered 763.
