This is an original 1903 halftone print of King Aleksander Obrenovic or Alexander I of Serbia. At the age of sixteen, Alexander declared himself of full age and used this coup d'ètat to remove the regents who had been governing the land in his stead. After a largely unpopular reign and equally unpopular marriage to Madame Draga Masin, he was assassinated in part due to his attempt to name his brother-in-law the heir to the throne. Alexander was shot, mutilated and disemboweled alongside Queen Draga on the morning of June 11, 1903.CONDITIONThis 108+ year old Item is rated Very Fine +++. Light aging throughout. No creases.
