This is an original 1906 black and white halftone print of the historic Appian Way in Rome, Italy, which was erected by Appius Claudius the Blind during the Samnite War. Appian Way was also referred to be the Romans as the "Queen of Roads." It is the oldest and most renowned of the ancient city and stretches from Rome to Brindisi, on the Adriatic.
