This is an original 1907 black and white print ad for Elco Motor Boats. This company was most notable for presenting the first electric engine for boats during the 1800s. Elco employees Irwin Chase, Glenville Sinclair Tremain and Henry R. Sutphen were known as the preemptive builders of motor yachts and cruising boats. The company built lifeboats for the U.S. Coast Guard, PT boats during WWII and many other water crafts for various organizations. Elco was shut down in 1949, due to its lack of opportunity to effectively transition to postwar conditions and demands; however, in 1987, the company reopened under the new ownership of Joseph W.
