This is an original 1908 black and white print ad for Lea & Perrins Sauce, The Original Worcestershire Sauce. This company began around 1800, when local nobleman Lord Sandys decided to attempt to imitate a sauce he had tried in Bengal. Employing chemists John Lea and William Perrins, the two made an unsavory sauce and abandoned the leftover jars in a basement. When the chemists went back to try the sauce years later, they had discovered the aging process gave the sauce a delightful flavor. In 1921, a bartender at Harry's New York Bar in Paris had accidentally mixed vodka with tomato juice and Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce and inadvertently created the Bloody Mary. John Duncan's Sons are the New York agents. Lea & Perrins Sauce is now a product of the H. J. Heinz Company. CONDITIONThis 103+ year old Item is rated Near Mint / Very Fine+. No creases.
