1912 Ad Monterey County California Chamber Commerce Dairy Farming PM3

This is an ultra rare original 1912 black and white print ad for the Monterey County Chamber of Commerce, encouraging travel, tourism and residency. The Hotel Del Monte was built by the Big Four railroad tycoons in 1880. The hotel hosted the most prestigious guests, including that of royalty. Due to fires in 1887 and 1924, the hotel was rebuilt to be even more decadent. In fact, the Hotel Del Monte included a racetrack, tennis courts, a grass roof swimming pavilion and the Del Monte Golf Course, which remains the oldest golf course in the West to remain in operation.
