1920 Print Arles Arena Roman Amphtheatre Bullfighting Ring France Provence XGGA5
This is an original 1920 sepia halftone print of the Roman amphitheater in Arles, France. As seems to be the case with most intact Roman amphitheaters, it is now used a bullfighting ring. After the fall of the Roman Empire in the 5th century it actually housed a small, fortified town within its walls, as the townsfolk must have needed shelter on a pretty regular basis.
