This is an original 1921 halftone print of "Inside the Sacred Cave of Amernath." Photography courtesy of William Jessop. Devout pilgrims used to strip off their clothes and throw themselves naked on the blocks of ice, which formed in the cave. The ice mound on the right is covered with the clothing of pilgrims.
