The opponents at the convention was Governor Cox of Ohio, Governor Smith of New York, Governor Edwards of New Jersey, Homer Cummings of Connecticut and John W. Davis of Virginia. The winner was James M. Cox, who ran with running mate Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The winner of the 1920 presidential election was Republican Warren G. Harding.
