This is an original 1922 sepia rotogravure of Americans at Veracruz, Mexico. The top image shows the U. S. S. Virginia outside the harbor. The center image shows American soldiers firing from behind a large boiler, and the bottom image shows various caskets on the Montana arriving in New York. The caption for the bottom image writes, "Funeral ship Montana arriving in New York bearing in flag-draped caskets the bodies of seventeen American sailors and marines who fell in the actions resulting on the occupation of Vera Cruz, Mexico, by our forces. The occupation had taken place because of the refusal of the Mexican Government to apologize for indignities heaped upon the crew of a United States naval vessel."CONDITIONThis 89+ year old Item is rated Very Fine ++.
