This is an original 1922 sepia rotogravure of Russian soldiers praying on a battlefield, Austrian prisoners of war being taken to a prison camp on a peasant cart, and in the bottom image, a troop of Russian soldiers surrendering at Darkheinen. The caption for the praying soldiers writes, "Russian soldiers kneeling in prayer on a battlefield during a lull in the fighting. The Russian nature is deeply religious, and the ceremonies and rites of the Church were of great value in maintaining the morale of the troops." CONDITIONThis 89+ year old Item is rated Very Fine ++.
