This is an original 1922 sepia rotogravure of British troops in Egypt moving across the desert sands, camels carrying wounded soldiers in Palestine, and the landscape of the area. The caption for the latter image writes, "The plain in which Babylon was situated, as seen from the ruins of what is supposed to have been the Tower the Babel of the Scriptures or the Temple of Belus described by Herodotus. In the days of Babylonian power this plain, by the aid of irrigation, produced abundant harvests.
