This is an original 1924 photogravure of "The Castle" or Stadtschloss, in Berlin Germany. This palace, which was demolished in the 1950, was originally built around 1700 and housed the Hohenzollern Kings of Prussia. After the fall of the German Empire in 1918, the Schloss housed a museum until it was destroyed by Allied bombs during World War II. Recent efforts to rebuild the Stadtschloss, now called the Humboldtforum, have been delayed several times due to controversy and high cost. Photograph by Kurt Hielscher.
