This is an original 1925 photogravure of the Ecce Homo arch which extends from the Ecce Homo Church on the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem, Israel. The words "Ecce Homo" are Latin for "Behold the Man," supposedly uttered by Pontius Pilate when he presented a scourged Jesus to the crowd. According to tradition, the Via Dolorosa is the path that Jesus walked, carrying his cross, on the way to his crucifixion. Photograph by Karl Gršber.
