1925 Jerusalem Church of the Holy Sepulchre True Cross - ORIGINAL PS5
This is an original 1925 photogravure of the Chapel of the Invention of the Holy Cross in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre (also known as the Church of the Resurrection) in the Old City of Jerusalem, Israel. Tradition has it that the Church is the site of Golgotha, or Calvary, where Jesus was crucified, and the tomb in which he was buried and thus, it is one on the holiest sites in Christendom. Tradition also says that this Chapel is the place where the Empress Helena discovered the True Cross during the excavation for the first Constantinian church on the site. Photograph by Karl Gršber. Period Paper is pleased to offer an exceptional collection of historic original photogravures of the architecture, landscape, and people of Palestine including Arabia and Syria. The actual border around the photogravure is larger than what is shown in the digital image and each image has a caption in English, French, Spanish, Italian and German, which will be included with the item when shipped.
