This is an original 1929 photogravure of the ascent to the Mokattam (or Moqattam, Muqattam) hills and tomb of Cheikh (Sheikh) Sultan Shah. Mount Mokattam is considered by Egyptians to be the only mountain near Cairo, though it stands only 400 to 500 feet high.
